And Drakes Bay Oyster Company owner Kevin Lunny operates a sustainable oyster farm in Drakes Estero in the Point Reyes National Seashore. The oyster farm supplies nearly 40% of all the oysters cultivated in California, and is the only operating oyster cannery in the state. Despite the fact that Kevin's oysters are prized at many restaurants and has the support of food activists like Michael Pollen and Alice Waters of Chez Panisse, the oyster farm is in a fight for its life.
